SSAS Tabular Workshop

The 2-day workshop covers the Tabular modeling in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 2012.

No knowledge of previous versions of Analysis Services and Unified Dimensional Model (UDM) is required, because Tabular is based on different concepts and on the new DAX language.

You will learn the differences between the two modeling options in Analysis Services 2012 (Tabular and Multidimensional) and when to choose one over the other. After the training, you will be able to create a SSAS Tabular model in Visual Studio, including basic DAX expressions.

You will also learn how to deploy, manage, query, monitor and optimize a Tabular model in a production environment with the guidance of our experienced SSAS Maestro trainers.

The course is based on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services: The BISM Tabular Model book, authored by our trainers.

Advanced DAX Workshop

The training is aimed at PowerPivot advanced users and Analysis Services developers that want to master the DAX language. The course includes hands-on lab sessions assisted by our teachers, including exercises for creating queries, solving business problems and locating performance bottlenecks in DAX.

The course covers all of the aspects of the language, starting from the basic concepts and going through the most complicated aspects of evaluation context interactions, exploiting the full power of DAX. The focus of the course is not on PowerPivot or SSAS Tabular functionality but only on the DAX language.

Attendees need to have a basic knowledge of the SQL 2012 Analysis Services Tabular modeling or they need to be familiar with PowerPivot for Excel and have produced at least some basic reports. For beginners, before attending this course we strongly suggest attending the PowerPivot Workshop to end users, and the SSAS Tabular Workshop to BI professionals.
