Introducing DAX Video Course

This is an introductory video course about the DAX language. DAX is the native language of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and SSAS Tabular models in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services. The training is aimed at users of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and at Analysis Services developers that want to move the first steps with DAX.

The goal is to teach the DAX language using Power BI for all the examples. You can download the initial Power BI Desktop file used in the demos and repeat all the steps shown in the videos. The same concepts can be used also on Power Pivot and on Analysis Services Tabular. The course is made of 150 minutes of lectures. You can watch the videos at anytime and the system will keep track of your advances. Within the course you can download the slides and the initial Power BI file used in the demos.

Very exhausting watching both the presenter arguing constantly, please stick to one person presenting!

    • Thank you Liam. Introducing DAX is an older course, and feedback like this has encouraged us to present differently in our more recent video courses. Claire

Only one day of your time to understand the basics of DAX will give many days of great data analysis in return. Thanks for the course! A very useful time investment!

I really liked the course. The length and depth are perfect for everyone who already tried some things themselves and have a need to structure their knowledge.

Hi Alberto, What a nice presentation. Thank you for offering us this pearl of knowledge and the interaction with Marco is great and also sometimes a bit funny (positive!) I would like to suggest still to give some short exercises for us in order to test the apprehension of our knowledge. After working through the video I went back reviewing some videos in order to refresh my knowledge. I'm a Finance Manager and since 3 years a BI developer for QlikView. I'm now learning Power BI in order for me to make the switch to this new BI tool. There's a lot to learn about Power BI and DAX is only a part of it. It's also Power Query, connections, administration, security and working with the PBI Service and several tenants. Although I'm sure a good DAX knowledge is a strong fundament. I would like still to learn more and am considering of taking the master class on DAX in Amsterdam 23-25 of May given by Marco Russo. Thanks again for your high quality of teaching. Rgds, Gerard

This was great. I really enjoyed the format with the two teachers and the zoom screen. The pedagogical aspect was excellent, with fairly simple functions and focus on understanding the concepts hiding behind. Thank you for this!

Great Course and very good guidance how to start your journey in PowerBI with the right fundamentals and giving you the tools needed to check the code you write and get a deeper understanding of how it works. Very, very well done guys.
