Introducing DAX Video Course

This is an introductory video course about the DAX language. DAX is the native language of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and SSAS Tabular models in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services. The training is aimed at users of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and at Analysis Services developers that want to move the first steps with DAX.

The goal is to teach the DAX language using Power BI for all the examples. You can download the initial Power BI Desktop file used in the demos and repeat all the steps shown in the videos. The same concepts can be used also on Power Pivot and on Analysis Services Tabular. The course is made of 150 minutes of lectures. You can watch the videos at anytime and the system will keep track of your advances. Within the course you can download the slides and the initial Power BI file used in the demos.

Excellent course, very much to the point and answered many of the questions I had after trying out DAX a few times. Loved the interaction between the presenter and the demo guy; it looked improvised but was super helpful to see what typical mistakes can happen.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Marko Mironoff (Jun 21, 2022)

    Good but boring without exercises

  • Georgios Ntokos (Jun 19, 2022)

    it was awesome course

  • Qamber Ali (Jun 14, 2022)

Excellent course. However, at the beginning of the course where you are showing creating Age calculated column, the information become out dated. As you recorded this video in 2017 and I attempted in 2022. After a while, I realized in the other calculations this difference. For while it was head scratcher...LOL

  • PROLETINA HRISTOVA (Jun 14, 2022)

Thank you for the course. I was impressed and greatly interested by the matter you showed. I really realised many of the mistakes I had done so far and most importantly learned how to correct them. The quality of the videos as well as the lecturer also added to my high ranking of the course. Looking forward to watching the more advanced and sophisticated videos.

  • Ryan Dizon (Jun 10, 2022)

Great beginner course! The instructors are very knowledgeable of the subject. I enjoyed watching the videos and following along with the demos. Thank you for putting this together and offering it for free!

  • Aaron Mortimer (Jun 9, 2022)

If you can figure out Excel formulas, you can muddle a way through VBA, then through M Language, and maybe even some basic DAX functions. But without some instruction such as this course has provided, you simply can't muddle a way through DAX, because the contextual stuff is quite alien. As you said: it's simple, but it's not easy! The lectures sum to 2.5 hours, but if you're following along at a comfortable pace and trying different/related things as you go, allow a day. At that, it's the most useful day's training I've had in years, and even better, it was free. Grazie mille!

The DAX course is awaysome and easy to understand

  • Syed Haziq (Jun 2, 2022)

This is one of the far best courses I have taken, clear, concise, and to the point.

  • David Lafont (Jun 1, 2022)

    I love this course.

  • Severina Temelkova (May 30, 2022)

Amazing course, thank you! Side note: It'd be nice if Marko has not been interrupting Alberto almost all the time - it is a bit distracting for the trainee. I believe Marko had some valuable input though so maybe they can discuss what to be extra added beforehand and Alberto to mention it throughout the course.
