Introduction to Data Modeling for Power BI Video Course

Introduction to Data Modeling for Power BI is an introductory video course about data modeling, which is a required skill to get the best out of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and Analysis Services. The training is aimed at users that do not have a background knowledge in data modeling for analytical systems and reporting.

The goal of the course is introduce the primary concepts of dimensional modeling, using practical examples and demos to illustrate how to obtain the desired result without having to write complex DAX expressions. Creating a proper data model simplifies the code to write and improves the performance. The course is made of 100 minutes of lectures. You can watch the videos at any time and the system will keep track of your advances. Within the course you can download the slides and the Power BI files used in the demos.

  • Joao Monteiro (Nov 16, 2019)

Excellent presentation. Thank you so much for sharing knowledge.

The German translation is not very good. Tables is sometimes Tabelle (correct) and very often Tisch (the table you eat on which you eat...). Or sometimes Date is translated as Dattel (something you eat like figs). I hoped to use it for people who don't like to learn stuff in English. Never mind the course is very good as always !

    • Thanks for your feedback - unfortunately, we have to use automatic translation service as reported in the description of the video course: "(*) Translated automatically from the original English captions." Originally we tried to create manually curated translation, but it was economically unsustainable. We received many requests for translations and the feedback was that an automatic translation is better than no translation, so we went for it - although it is not ideal and far from our standards.

I love your videos! You make everything simple to understand. The process is always building from one scenario to the next in a way that makes the entire process understandable. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible knowledge with us.

As a newbie to pbi this is a really good introduction to data modelling and the scenarios were very well explain by Marco.
