Introduction to Data Modeling for Power BI Video Course

Introduction to Data Modeling for Power BI is an introductory video course about data modeling, which is a required skill to get the best out of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and Analysis Services. The training is aimed at users that do not have a background knowledge in data modeling for analytical systems and reporting.

The goal of the course is introduce the primary concepts of dimensional modeling, using practical examples and demos to illustrate how to obtain the desired result without having to write complex DAX expressions. Creating a proper data model simplifies the code to write and improves the performance. The course is made of 100 minutes of lectures. You can watch the videos at any time and the system will keep track of your advances. Within the course you can download the slides and the Power BI files used in the demos.

All the lectures were clarifying, the content and examples matched my expectation. Most of content was a refresh to me, however I found the whole approach very stimulating, so I wish I could purchase deeper courses or books of Russo and Ferrari in close future. I really enjoyed your initiative!

This is the best ideal introductory course on Data Modeling with Power BI I have encountered! Marco and Alberto makes it really easy to understand such complex topics and it trains you as you go along so that once you're finished with the course you have a very strong concept on what proper data modeling is. I totally recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning "what the heck is" Data Modeling with Power BI. Grazie Mille Marco & Alberto. Cheers from Lima, Perú!.

Might be one of the best video courses I've ever seen. Thank you.

What a fantastic course. I stumbled into a role a few years ago that led me to working daily with SQL and SSRS. I've never looked back and really enjoy working with data, but until now I've never truly understood (and therefore never practiced) the benefits of pushing data models into star schemas. I knew people kept recommending it, but because my last employer and current employer do not have any data warehouse or lakes, I've always just built reporting off the OLTP databases. I get by. But now, even though I know my employer won't fork out the money to put in place a proper data warehousing (and the task will only fall on me which I don't really want) I can at least start putting together a SQL Server data model using views and a new db schema, to suit my needs to improve my data-modelling and report building processes. Thank you so much! Love to see you deliver a course in London (or Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Aylesbury, or near by) one day soon.

Great free course from the very masters of DAX and Data modeling, who help you lay a solid foundation to your journey in becoming a BI specialist. Few basic concepts on which you can build with further reading and studying of their huge work on these subjects. Thanks Marco and Alberto!

One of the best and interactive sessions, I have indulged myself in. Thanks and keep up the good work!
