DAX Time Intelligence

Alberto begins this video with a brief introduction to Time Intelligence, before showing you how to create a calendar table, which is needed for any time intelligence function to work. It can be created using Excel, or by loading it from a data warehouse, or from another database, if available. Once the calendar table has been put in place, you could immediately use it to browse your data, provided that you have correctly set all of its attributes. Bear in mind that if you have more than one date in your model, such as an order date and a ship date, you should be careful about loading it multiple times—the demo introduces a way to deal with this common situation by creating time-oriented role dimensions.
