Fabric/power BI users have requested a capability to programmatically update the gateway cloud connection associated with data sources used in Power BI semantic reports, via a REST API. Currently, changing or managing gateway cloud connections for data sources within semantic models (datasets) often requires manual updates through the Power BI Service interface or Power BI Admin Portal. This can become time-consuming and error-prone. Proposed Capability: Kindly introduce a Power BI REST API that allows users to update the gateway or cloud connection bound to a semantic model's data source. This feature would enable improved automation, governance, and scalability for enterprise BI teams using Power BI as a part of modern DevOps workflows.

The current card visual forces users to overlap elements or waste copious amounts of time creating custom visuals. The new card feature should give users the ability to create multiple cards in a single container and provide a greater level of customization.

It would be beneficial to incorporate features from Pivot tables that allow for the expansion and collapse of columns and hierarchical column groups within tabular visuals. This would not only solve the current limitations of matrices but also provide report creators with the flexibility to hide and show rows and columns, saving these settings for future use, thus eliminating the need to scroll through irrelevant data.

Enabling customized calculations at the query level for subtotals and grand totals would offer greater flexibility in reporting and preserve performance. Efficient organization of control settings to modify the style of these totals separately will empower report creators to achieve their desired appearance, while addressing their need for more control and customization in reporting.

I would like to propose a new setting with the recent change Microsoft decided to make that when you pin a report tile to a dashboard, it is no longer automatically shared with the dashboard users. I understand the security concern behind this change. However, for some companies it may not be a concern and this functionality (of automatic report sharing once pinned to a dashboard) has been important in seamlessly sharing reports via dashboards with end users. I believe this should be a setting in the admin portal that can be toggled on and off, so that those of us who need this functionality can have it back.

As a business user it's critical to understand the context of my filters at a glance. Standard slicers don't indicate the scope of the selection. **Business Problem:** When analyzing data with thousands of potential values in a dimension (e.g., Cost Centers, GL Accounts), selecting a subset leaves the user "blind." They can't easily see if they've selected 10 out of 100 or 10 out of 10,000, which is crucial context for analysis. We currently build complex workarounds with multiple visuals (Matrices, DAX, Bookmarks) to show this. **Proposed Solution:** Enhance the Slicer visual to have an optional, integrated header section that can display: 1. **Selection Count:** A text summary of items selected vs. total available (e.g., "5688/9019"). 2. **Proportional Bar:** A visual data bar showing the percentage of items selected. 3. **One-Click Reset:** A built-in "Reset" or "Select All" button within the slicer header, distinct from the main visual header's "Clear selections" eraser. This would dramatically improve usability, reduce report development complexity, and provide essential analytical context directly within the primary filtering tool.

Currently, when using the “Apply to: Labels” option in matrix visuals for conditional formatting, Power BI applies the formatting to all row headers, including both regular rows and subtotal rows. This behavior is consistent across both Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service, and it is not configurable to scope the formatting to only subtotals. This limitation causes confusion and inconsistent visual behavior—especially in scenarios where users want to highlight only subtotal rows for clarity in large hierarchical matrices. In semantic model .pbix files, the formatting may appear more scoped due to local model context, but in live-connected reports, the formatting engine lacks the metadata granularity to distinguish between subtotal and non-subtotal labels. Proposed Enhancement: Introduce a new option in the “Apply to” dropdown for matrix visuals that allows users to apply conditional formatting only to subtotal labels. This would provide parity with the existing “Apply to: Values,” “Totals,” and “Subtotals” options and give report authors more precise control over formatting behavior. Benefits Enables cleaner, more intuitive matrix visuals in both semantic models and live-connected reports. Reduces formatting inconsistencies between development and production environments. Improves accessibility and readability for end users by clearly distinguishing subtotal rows. Eliminates the need for workarounds such as importing models or using custom themes. I came across one of the scenario where I have Donut chart on Page 1 which is built based on Hierarchy column. Now, in Page 2 I am using Bar chart and I want to show the same values/slices that are there in the donut on Bar chart. While using Drill Through, buttons its bar chart is showing the Parent level but not the level that is in the Donut chart. For this scenario, I want to use the slicer on Page 2 using the Hierarchy column or using filed parameter. When user drill down to Level 2 in the donut chart, the slicer value needs to be sync with the donut chart and gives the level 2 values in bar chart. let me know if any one faced this kind of scenario or nay work arounds. Note: I don't want to use any slicer in page 1 to sync with page 2. I want to sync based on donut slices.

Interpreting visuals without a clear legend to indicate logic behind specific styles can lead to confusion and decision-making errors. An idea to enhance clarity and transparency by ensuring legends and tooltips accurately display colors, patterns, and other visual components influenced by logics, would enable report consumers to easily understand the applied logic and make more effective decisions.

Hello, Wouldn't it be great to get an exported Excel sheet containing the number of rows written by a specific activity in a dataflow gen2 over time ? I wish I had a CSV/Excel export feature allowing me to export the activity statistics for all the execution runs Would be usefull for informational or troubleshooting purposes. I have a couple of simple dataflows that are running on a daily basis and whose job is a full copy of some tables. From time to time, I would like to check the number of row that are written to the data warehouse. Currently, I have to click on each run, then click on each activity and copy/paste the statistics manually in an Excel. Example : Start time Duration Rows written 6/19/2025, 9:49:06 AM 00:00:46 445,155 6/18/2025, 8:26:14 PM 00:00:42 445,138 6/17/2025, 8:25:45 PM 00:00:48 445,034 6/16/2025, 8:30:20 PM 00:01:17 444,915 6/16/2025, 10:13:10 AM 00:00:40 444,805

Currently, we are able to connect a Microsoft Fabric instance to an Azure Log Analytics Workspace in order to collect and query performance and usage logs. It would be wonderful if we could do the same with audit logs. Exporting Microsoft Fabric audit logs to an Azure Log Analytics Workspace would significantly enhance security monitoring and operational visibility. By centralizing audit data in Log Analytics, security teams could leverage powerful Kusto Query Language (KQL) to perform deep forensic investigations, detect anomalies, and correlate events across services. This setup also enables seamless integration with Microsoft Sentinel, allowing for real-time alerting, automated incident response, and advanced threat detection using built-in analytics rules and workbooks. Additionally, storing logs in Log Analytics ensures long-term retention, compliance support, and the ability to create custom dashboards that align with organizational security policies. This unified approach would empower teams to proactively monitor Microsoft Fabric environments with enterprise-grade security intelligence.

Many data sources are not supporting query folding, and for those that do, if users perform transitions such as merging, changing data types, or duplicating columns, it breaks the query folding. It would be helpful if they could manage transitions along with query folding.

Please make it possible to use Managed Identity with Fabric items like Notebooks and Data Pipeline.
Benefits:
No need to handle credentials.
The item won't be related to a physical person.
Then, we can give the Managed Identity access to read (and write to) data storage items in other Fabric workspaces, Azure SQL, ADLS, Dataverse, etc.
So that we don't need to rely on human users, and also don't need to handle credentials.

Power BI Desktop currently lacks support for browser-based authentication when using the Teradata connector, despite .NET enabling this capability. Users must resort to configuring a generic ODBC data source with the Teradata ODBC driver to achieve browser login. This feature has been requested by multiple customers since 2020, but has not been prioritized due to limited direct feedback. Enabling browser authentication would streamline access and improve security compliance for many enterprise users

The primary axis are outdated and require significant improvement when compared to Excel. This makes it difficult for report creators and often leads to problems when trying to manage and style them effectively. By offering more format settings, greater control over displayed data can be provided, especially if axis ticks, new gridlines, and separators are also included.
